KLAUS WEISS / MONOTON / ABANDONED TOYS – RUNNERS NIGHTLINERVISION RHYTHM REMIX

It’s nearing the end of 2010, so we thought we’d treat you to a free download of a RUNNERS remix of Klaus Weiss, Monoton and Abandoned Toys…

KLAUS WEISS / MONOTON / ABANDONED TOYS –
RUNNERS NIGHTLINERVISION RHYTHM REMIX (mp3)

Klaus Weiss was a German jazz drummer who toured Europe with many of America’s touring musicians and played long stints at the Blue Note in Paris and Munich’s Domicile Club. Later in his career, he began to record albums of his own – some of which involved the use of synthesisers, which is how I found out about him. There are a few tracks in this mix, all on Sound Music Album #18 from 1979.

Founded in the same year, Monoton was started by Konrad Becker as an evolving art project exploration of psycho-active sound programming and its psychosocial contextualizing.  In 1998, The Wire magazine singled out Monoton’s record “Monotonprodukt07” from 1982 among the 100 most important records of the 20th century. The track in this mix is Nightvision from the 2009 album, Stille.

Abandoned Toys is the work of a modern classical composer from Tampa, Florida, USA. I gotta admit, I know nothing more about them, other than that there’s an album called The Witch’s Garden, and that the track used in this mix is called Nightliner from the 2009 Pop Ambient compilation on Kompakt which a friend gave me as a gift – assuming it’s the same Abandoned Toys as the guy from Tampa. I honestly have no idea.

More tunes soon…
